Globally only one in eight people can read. For many people in Nepal this is just a piece of paper with black marks. We are changing that. We work with minority language groups to enable them to become literate in their own language, then Nepali and other languages and use these skills for community transformation. We believe that language based development is most effectively implemented through community-based organizations and in partnerships. We believe in networking with organizations committed to preserving the rich linguistic heritage of Nepal. We believe that minority languages have an important role in formal and non-formal education.
